AISI 8620 Steel Forging

AISI8620 is an American alloy steel, and the implementation standard is ASTM A29/A29M – 2015AISI 8620. Silicon (Si): 0.15 – 0.35%

Manganese (Mn): 0.70 – 0.90%

Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035%

Sulfur (S): ≤0.040%

Chromium (Cr): 0.40 – 0.60%

Nickel (Ni): 0.40 – 0.70%

Molybdenum (Mo): 0.15 – 0.25%

How to heat treat AISI 8620 steel

Forged AISI 8620 steel heat treatment can be heat treated by quenching or normalizing methods to achieve the required mechanical properties. After heat treatment, its tensile strength can reach 545 MPa to 795 MPa. Specific heat treatment parameters are as follows:

  • Normalizing temperature: 870-930 °C (1600-1700 °F)
  • Annealing temperature: 860 °C (1575 °F)
  • Carburizing temperature: 930 °C (1700 °F)
  • Reheating temperature: 775-840 °C (1425-1550 °F)
