What is hot forging

There are many types of forging, including hot forging, cold forging, free forging, warm forging, etc. Hot forging is to soften the raw materials by physically heating them, put the mold in the forging press, and then use the forging press to press, so as to forge a shape that meets the product.

Hot forging process of parts

The first step of hot end parts is generally heating. Heating can be heated by using a frequency conversion furnace to heat the hot forging material to soften it. The required shape can be quickly formed during forging. The heating temperature is generally controlled at around 1200 degrees.

The second step is forging. Forging is divided into pre-forging and final forging. Pre-forging is the initial forging of product parts. The pre-forged blank is close to the finished product, and then it is final forged to achieve the finished product effect.

The third step is to trim, sandblast, machine, heat treat, and galvanize the hot forged finished blank parts.

Industry application of hot forged parts

Hot forged parts have high strength and high toughness and are widely used in agriculture, power industry, engineering machinery and equipment, petroleum energy and chemical industry,

Agricultural application, hot forging can forge agricultural parts, such as agricultural tractor parts, agricultural forging plows, other parts of agricultural equipment, etc.

Automotive industry application, automobile engine parts, automobile connecting rods, automobile drive shafts, gearbox gears, synchronizer rings, control arms, etc.

Hot forged engineering machinery has track links, supporting wheels, steering knuckles, hydraulic cylinder piston rods, etc.

Advantages of hot forging compared with casting

Hot forging and casting are both ways to make mechanical parts, but the advantages of hot forging are very obvious. There are mainly the following differences between hot forging and casting

1 Hot forging can improve the performance of materials. Hot forging is forging through high temperature and high pressure, which can achieve parts without pores and precise metal elements of forged parts. Taking 40CR as an example, after hot end, the compressive value of 40CR material increases by 1000MPa, while casting is only 700MPA, which greatly extends the service life of hot forged parts.

2 Hot forging can forge complex parts for application in key areas

Hot forging parts such as automobile crankshafts, which are in constant motion with the automobile engine, have very high requirements for the crankshaft. The hot end crankshaft life is 2 times longer than the casting life.

Hot forging oil industry parts flanges, in the oil pipeline connection, the flange is under great pressure and corrosion. The hot forging flange has higher hardness and 30% higher impact resistance than casting.

3 Hot forging mass production, hot forging processing allowance allowance 1~2mm, can reduce machining, so that customers can reduce costs.
